The method of allocating Ministry Share between the Benefices of the Diocese in any year has four aims.

1. To allocate Ministry Share to a Benefice as fairly as possible with respect to the membership size of that Benefice relative to all the others in the Diocese.
2. To be as responsive as possible to changes in membership in a Benefice from one year to another.
3. To ensure that no Benefice faces an excessive increase in their Ministry Share over what it was paying in the previous year.  That is, no increase greater than a prescribed percentage set by the Executive Committee of the Board of Finance; which is currently 25 per cent.
4. To ensure that across the Diocese as a whole, the total Ministry Share stated in the Diocesan Budget for that year is collected.
